There is a huge vegetarian population in Mumbai constantly looking out for restaurants serving quality vegetarian food that goes beyond traditional Indian fare. It can be a challenge to find vegetarian international cuisine that hasn’t been adapted to suit Indian tastes. That’s why Quattro is such a pleasant surprise!
Located in the heart of the Lower Parel area, opposite Phoenix Mills, Quattro serves authentic, pure vegetarian Italian and Mexican cuisine, and a range of ‘desserts to die for’. The Guptas, who own the restaurant, are committed to giving their patrons a truly authentic fine dining experience. “That means not just adhering to the correct methods of preparation, but going back further to ensure that the ingredients are the genuine article too!”
Special pelati tomatoes, imported Arborio rice, animal rennet free cheese, and imported Mexican chillies and beans find their way into the Quattro kitchen to add a just the right flavour and taste to pastas, sauces, and risottos. “Our pizzas are made the traditional way, in a wood-fired oven, from freshly prepared dough,” inform the Guptas. “The Mexican food is made in a tex-mex style. Our nachos are very different and a must-try for all!”
Quattro has a very rustic, earthy ambience. A special feature is the live kitchen that allows customers to see for themselves the high standards of hygiene maintained. “The plating and presentation of all the dishes, from the starters to main course to desserts is definitely praise worthy,” says a customer. “Their desserts are so good that a lot of people place their dessert order before the main course!”
Made from the finest imported Belgian couverture chocolate, the desserts are not only egg-free but gelatine-free as well. Even the strictest vegetarians can indulge in a delicious confection without any guilt. On the way out is a well stocked deli counter featuring freshly baked bread and other baked goodies, sinful desserts, and a tempting choice of dips, jams, relishes, and oils. Customers who have enjoyed the Quattro experience have the opportunity to take some of it back home with them!
